Do Good and Share What You Have
Relieving Medical Debt for Georgia neighbors in Cobb, Fulton, Cherokee & Forsyth County

Who are we?
Chestnut Ridge Christian Church in Marietta, GA is an open and affirming community of faith whose members are committed to making a difference. We are one of those churches that is small enough to notice—and miss you—when you’re absent, yet big enough–and bold enough–to positively impact those in need around us. That’s why we’re committing to a six month campaign to eliminate the medical debt of our Atlanta-area neighbors.
Long ago, we determined to be a community-focused church, and we live out that mission by sponsoring our CrossRoads Community Garden and also providing non-perishable food through our much used Blessing Box. We proudly sponsor Boy Scout Troop 955 and make our facilities available for local neighborhood meetings and host weekly Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. We also provide a Little Free Library and a Sharing Station for Kids’ Clothing. With each of these efforts we reach into our community beyond the walls of our church.
Why this campaign?
In Hebrews 13:16 we read, “Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.” Any one of us could experience a medical emergency that could quickly overwhelm us financially. As we see the tremendous weight that medical debt places on individuals and families, we believe that we can help our neighbors never have to choose between paying medical bills or foregoing basic needs like food and shelter. This campaign is our commitment to “do good and share what we have” and to do right by our neighbors. Chestnut Ridge Christian Church is committing to raise $10,000 in order to eliminate one million dollars of medical debt for our neighbors in the metro Atlanta area. This is a stretch goal for a church our size, but we are a “stretch goal” kind of faith community. We believe that if we will take big, bold steps that God will use us in big, bold ways. Will you join us on this journey?

How RIP Works
Over a hundred million Americans, one in three, struggles with the weight of medical debt.
-
You make a donation
We use data analytics to pinpoint the debt of those most in need: households that earn less than 4x the federal poverty level (varies by state, family size) or whose debts are 5% or more of annual income.
-
RIP buys medical debt at a steep discount
We buy debt in bundles, millions of dollars at a time at a fraction of the original cost. This means your donation relieves about 100x its value in medical debt.
-
Together we wipe out medical debt
People across the country receive letters that their debt has been erased. They have no tax consequences or penalties to consider. Just like that, they’re free of medical debt.
