Over the past forty years, medical costs have doubled, insurance copays and deductibles have spiked, and bankruptcy rates have quadrupled. All of this has created an avalanche of destructive medical debt. A 2019 study found that 35% percent of Ohio adults struggled to pay their medical bills. The root cause of more than 60% of bankruptcies in America is due to medical debt.
The effects of high healthcare costs are shockingly outrageous in Ohio.
GCC’s Color of Health campaign will focus on retiring medical debt for the disadvantaged citizens in Cuyahoga County. On average, $1 is leveraged to abolish $100 in medical debt, and every donation through this page will be spent directly on abolishing medical debt in Cuyahoga County. Join us in bringing hope and restoration to those who are financially suffering and are crippled by medical bills and debt.
