We are raising funds that will go directly to paying off medical debts owed by our neighbors.
Our neighbors are weighed down by huge medical bills that linger long after their medical needs are resolved. More than 60% of bankruptcies in America have medical debt as a root cause. These debts keep people from thriving, so we are doing as Proverbs commands:
“Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due,
when it is in your power to act.“
Through RIP Medical Debt, which purchases debts in bulk, every $1 that we raise can eliminate $100 dollars’ worth of medical debts. We want to raise at least $10,000 by September 30, to clear $1,000,000 worth of medical debt for people in our region.
This is a powerful picture of God’s grace that wipes out our debts, but is also a practical, tangible demonstration that God’s justice is at work in our world.
