Faith Communities Relieving Medical Debt
Medical debt, the #1 cause of bankruptcy in the US, has shattered the lives as well as the credit scores of people across our country. Every day 79 million Americans must choose between paying their medical bills and paying for basic needs like food and shelter. Faith communities and generous individuals across the country have been joining together to help relieve the burden of medical debt by partnering with RIP Medical Debt.
Neighbors All is an association of faith communities in Virginia dedicated to the work of relieving medical debt for our neighbors. Each of our respective faith traditions compels us to love and care for our neighbors. Medical debt relief is a tangible expression of that love.
Our neighbors in West Virginia are hurting under an oppressive $21 million worth of medical debt. Our campaign aspires to relieve a large chunk of that debt and to give back hope and stability to individuals previously drowning in medical debt. RIP is able to turn every $10 donated into roughly $1000 worth of debt relieved, and that’s the size of the average medical debt. So, every donation goes a long way to relieving debt for our neighbors!

You make a donation
With every donation, RIP uses its precise data analytics to pinpoint the medical debt of those most in need of relief: households whose income is below twice the federal poverty line or are insolvent.
RIP buys medical debt at a steep discount
Your donations allow us to buy debt in bundles. That allows us to buy debt at a fraction of the original cost. So whatever you donate has 100x the impact.
Together we wipe out medical debt
People receive a letter that their debt is gone. No taxes. No penalties. Just like that, they're free of medical debt.
