Central Valley 1 For 100 Medical Debt Destroyer strives to improve the lives of the hard-working members of Merced, Madera, and Fresno Counties. Our goal is to wipe out crippling medical debt so families can spend their money in our communities.
Our goal is to eliminate a total of $1.6M of medical debt in these counties. For every dollar donated, $100 of medical debt is erased. Our fundraising goal of $13,000 would clear ALL of this available medical debt. Debt Destroyed!!!
When families have overwhelming medical debt, they may be forced to forgo necessary medical treatment, leading to additional physical issues. They may also face unfavorable financial repercussions such as lawsuits, wage garnishment, bank account seizures, property liens, and bankruptcy. Addressing medical debt has become an urgent priority.
This fundraiser was started by Merced High and Fresno State alum Dave Barrera. Born and raised in the Valley, he has seen firsthand how medical debt can impact family and friends.
“Medical debt can keep our families, friends, and neighbors from living a full life in the Central Valley. I challenge all Merced High and Fresno State alumni to donate in the name of an educator who touched their lives. I’ll be donating in the name of Herbert Cruikshank, my sixth-grade teacher at Hoover Junior High. He instilled in us the importance of pushing ourselves to new heights.”
